Daphne Lu, MFT-Intern
Therapist
In my work with individuals (ages 10 and up), couples, families, and groups in counseling, I believe in using a holistic approach and addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual areas of people's lives because treating the obvious symptoms is not necessarily the cure. With a background working as an RBT for children with Autism, I take a creative and individualistic approach to working with my clients to address their areas of concern.
Using my training in EMDR, I particularly enjoy helping those that have experienced grief and trauma to break free of their internal chains, and live a more peaceful and fulfilling life. My therapeutic style is directive (expect homework, experimenting, and gentle firmness!), yet cooperative, and I often incorporate ACT, CBT, mindfulness, or experiential interventions to support clients through their healing journey.
When working with couples, I use many techniques from the Gottman Method to help couples repair their communication and rekindle their connection. Coming in with a background in family systems, we will work together to identify exactly where the stressors are impacting you most, and implement changes to stabilize and support your relationship.
I am passionate about supporting the Deaf community - I believe everyone should have access to confidential and personal therapy, and I have worked to achieve a conversational level of American Sign Language in order to be able to provide services without an interpreter. I am happy to chat and see if my level of ASL is acceptable for you!
